NECTAR INITIATIVES IN DRONE TECHNOLOGY IN THE GEOSPATIAL APPLICATIONS SECTOR

•    NECTAR regularly conducts training Modules on various aspects of Geospatial technology for capacity building of Northeastern Students and unemployed youths with an objective of creating Drone and Geospatial technology application Ecosystems in NER.

•    NECTAR has entered with numbers of collaborative industrial partners working in the Geospatial sector who can contribute to developing NER students into Geospatial Professionals to meet the demand of manpower resources at all levels.

•    Delivery of Geospatial Service on revenue generation basis - More than 5 Cr. of Project value funding from external agencies has been sanctioned (Agriculture crop analysis, Abadi mapping areas under SVAMITVA, Drone mapping for Coal and sand mining and plantation management application areas in various areas) to work on revenue generation mode; steps towards attain self-sufficiency of NECTAR.

•    All external funding projects linked with internal training and skill development programs aimed to provide professional skills and industry-level exposure by engaging students, unemployed youths, especially dropouts and returned migrants who are domiciled to Northeastern states. Attempt to provide livelihood opportunities and direct employment to NER community.

•    Most of the valuable resources of NER are being mapped precisely using advanced geospatial technology to get enhanced value addition at the local level. Mapping of Bamboo Resources and, mapping of medicinal plants and indigenous fruits and spices are a few of the activities that have been initiated.

•    Creating Institutional framework in various establishments - The Centre is in active stage of setting up of one Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) at Guwahati to create capacity building on Certified Drone pilots. Also set up a drone assembling, drone repair & maintenance awareness training centre in collaboration with IHFC-IIT Delhi.
